Medlands quartermaster launched

Companies and governments find each other in ‘Medlands Parkstad’. Based on the common interest to bind sufficient talent to both the sector and the Parkstad region, a declaration of intent was signed on 1 September. To further shape the cooperation in terms of content and organisation, a quartermaster in the person of Marc Croijmans was hired.

As quartermaster, he has extensive experience in setting up and anchoring a triple helix organisation in the customer service sector, similar to Medlands, consisting of international companies, government and educational institutions. Together with the members of the Medlands leading group, he will set up a multi-year programme on the themes of image/communication, education, labour market and infrastructure.

Marc Croijmans: ‘Being attractive for talents with an LBO, MBO, HBO or university education to live and work in the medical sector and the Parkstad region will come first. The initiators cannot do this alone. Cooperation with educational institutions and labour market organisations as well as companies and organisations in Parkstad that are active in the medical sector is crucial to making Medlands a success. Parties who want to contribute to this, I therefore cordially invite them to contact me.’

The medical sector in Parkstad has grown to almost 6,000 jobs over the past 20 years, making it of very high economic significance for Parkstad. Medlands is an initiative of Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific with the municipalities of Heerlen, Kerkrade and Stadsregio Parkstad and seeks long-term cooperation to strengthen the medical sector and the regional economy, with the higher goal of being attractive to talent.
